A downloadable game

Welcome to Prototype//

Project Junkyard!

A Single Player Action RPG Game currently in Prototype phase.

From the forges of the Junkyard underneath the Golden City, the ultimate fighter is born. Project Junkyard is focused on becoming a no bullsh*t, heavy-action, narrative driven game.

I want to give the player a vast array of weapons that gives the opportunity to quickly adapt to the different situation. Two are available already. Sword and Gun. Eventually unlocking fire Magic to go to the next level. The player will fight against the autonomous enemies found throughout the world of Everia.

WARNING : This is a very early prototype that we made in just few weeks, so things are bound to be messy. It's been currently patched a bit, which you can read down below.

My aim is to gather some early feedback on our current prototype.

Things you like, things you don't. This way I can collect some data on what to focus on the most.

My wish is to release it on Steam, so that's what I'm working towards in the coming two years as a Game-Design student. I find it so fun to keep posting more prototypes, gameplay loops and eventually a demo for people to try out! This way you can really see the game come together over time!

Most of the story is already written and the systems ready to be developed. If you're interested in knowing about the lore, let me know that too. Cause that is something that we haven't presented at all yet. It's a personal story in some ways, but mostly its a daydream of a world that could be, and one day will be.

So please leave your feedback in the comments, then we know which elements to prioritize most.
Thank you so much for your time, I hope you have a nice day!

New & Next

  • Last Level is now an Arena that infinitely spawn enemies until player dies.
  • Timer that tracks player survive time.
  • Furthermore a TON of bugg fixes (still working on some, send help)
  • Player Character now faces in the direction of WASD input and not of where the mouse pointer is : Creates issue with Gun sometimes, shoot in direction you face for now, working on a fix.
  • Pop-Up bugg fixed spawning the Grid
  • Spacebar key bugg fixed
  • And some smaller fixes with music, walking spaces and weapon swapping mechanic
NEXT

QoL Menu updates and settings

Fixing buggs

There is a mechanic that we are trying to get implemented. It's called Tactical Mode. During Tactical Mode time freezes and spawns a grid field onto the battlefield. This assists the player to tactically cast certain Magic. Hoping to upload soon with the first spell:

"Heatcore" : Place an active Fire Sigil on the grid. If an enemy stands within it's bounds, it takes fire damage over time. Additionally, if the Player enters the "Heatcore" , they Heal back some HP and create an AOE explosion, damaging all nearby enemies.

Thank You!

Thank you so much for your time, I'm keeping a pdf with all the names that helped out by giving feedback, wanting to return the favor one day through the form of an small event. I know it's still very early in the process but am just so excited to share the little bits we got already, because there is so much more to come! Sorry for the glaring problems of the current prototype, it's a work-in-progress, hope you enjoy.

would really love to try you game, Dev. can you make a demo work on web? i don’t really like downloading unfinished game in the net.

Hello! Will try uploading it as a web build as soon as possible, will be in a few days! Thanks for the interest man, appreciated.

(1 edit)

Sadly it isn't compatible without changing fundamental HDRP settings, will not be playable in browser just yet.

Hi, thanks for checking out my game! Of course, I went to check out your game and thought it was so cool! The 2D with the 3D style is awesome, reminds me of DMC mixed with Fire Emblem! The tactical map is such a unique function, can't wait for it to be implemented fully.

I did get stuck in a few places, specifically on the edges of the map while exploring, but I'm sure you're working to fix those bugs. Definitely get an animation in for the enemies, I wasn't sure when they were attacking or if just touching them lowered my hp. There was one typo in the text explaining the portal, specifically the beginning word should be 'use' not 'your'. But other than those issues, I spent like 10 minutes just walking around and slashing the air because the game style is so cool and smooth! Also the music fits perfectly. Can't wait for more progress!

I would love to help design bosses, ideas for the tactical map, or just be a bug tester, just reach out to me on twitter! @alligatorkaiju

Heya! Thanks so much for the comment I really appreciate it.

Hahah yes the typo hurts, I also had a weird bug where if I go into gun-mode on certain places on the map in the tutorial area, whilst facing the dummy, the character just fades away out of existence. I swear sometimes its magic games are even fully functional. I'm mostly a designer, with a little bit of dev powers in me. And when we worked on this I had 1 devs who worked really hard but is currently busy with his own classes/projects. That's why I am prioritizing finding  good devs willing to join the coming time period.

I love that you like the vibe, I definitely took note and likewise, if you ever would want some design advice or think something through you can reach out to me as well. It's always cool to help out others who study games too :)
I'm not really active on twitter, but try to be, you can add me @Reyinn94

Thank you!
